Everyone knows that NetworkManager is the new Chuck Norris. I am happy to report that Alexander Sack has gotten NM .7 in a decent enough shape in Ubuntu for larger testing.
The packages are available via asac's PPA archive. NOTE: This is pure distilled Chuck Norris. This can break your networking, so you should be familiar enough with networking to be able to fix it when you get a roundhouse kick in the face from Chuck.(ie. you should at least know how to use ifconfig, heh.)
Report bugs in launchpad as normal, but PLEASE PLEASE make sure you explicitly mention that you're using the version from asac's PPA. Happy hunting!
EDIT: We will use a forum thread, I'll update as soon as I have a link.

Chuck Norris kicked my ass and took away my wireless, I had to go back to the Oprah 0.6 version.

One thing I'm missing from network manager 0.6 in Gutsy, is a "restart networking" or "repair network" (as in win XP) item in the popup menu of network manager, to get a new IP from the DHCP server.
At the moment you need to type sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart in a terminal. I don't mind using the terminal myself, but adding restart network as an option in the network manager menu would still be useful.
I haven't tried 0.7 yet though, from your PPA. Maybe such a feature is already in there?

I'm just hoping that you'll be able to connect to a VPN when a PPP connection is in use.. that would solve my last inconvenience.

When will network manager properly display available wireless networks? If I got into an area that is served by wireless it usually takes a few minutes for it to show up in network manager. When I leave a wireless hot spot it can take up to an hour before it is removed from network manager. There should at least be a refresh button where it rescans and starts anew.

NM already does that. Just re-select the existing connection.
